Meryl Streep’s daughter, Louisa Jacobson, announces she’s gay

Meryl Streep‘s daughter, actor Louisa Jacobson made waves over the weekend by appearing to publicly come out as a lesbian and debut her relationship in an Instagram post.

The caption read: “blessed to be entering the Joyful New Era bb,” accompanied by flaming heart and LGBTQ Pride flag emojis.

The first of the six photos in the post featured Jacobson with Anna Blundell, a producer according to her verified Instagram bio. The second image was a screenshot of a recent New York Times article titled “We’re Entering a Joyful New Era of Lesbian Fashion.”

The remaining images showcased Jacobson in various outfits epitomizing lesbian chic.

Fans quickly noted that Jacobson’s Instagram post coincided with her mother’s 75th birthday, adding an extra layer of significance to the announcement. Her mother, Oscar-winning actor Meryl Streep, has always been a pillar of support in Jacobson’s life.

In addition to the initial photos, at least two news outlets, the New York Post’s Page Six and Out magazine, reported that the post originally included several other images. These reportedly featured a painting of the ancient Greek poet Sappho, who is celebrated for her writings on love between women, and a graffiti image with the words “live. laugh. lesbian.”

Jacobson, 33, has followed in her mother’s illustrious footsteps, first attending Vassar College and then earning her master’s degree in fine arts from Yale University. She stars in the HBO series The Gilded Age, acting alongside Cynthia Nixon and Christine Baranski. The show has been renewed for a third season, solidifying Jacobson’s place in the entertainment industry.

Her public coming out aligns with a broader trend of celebrities using Pride Month to embrace and celebrate their identities. Singer Maren Morris came out as bisexual earlier this month, per Today, and Baby Reindeer actor Jessica Gunning recently revealed she is a lesbian, according to People.

Jacobson’s celebration of her identity and her relationship only highlights the evolving landscape of representation in the entertainment industry, where more stars feel empowered to share their true selves with the world.

By publicly embracing her identity, Jacobson joins a growing list of celebrities who are using their platforms to promote visibility and acceptance. Her post not only celebrates her relationship but also resonates with fans who see her as a role model.

As Pride Month continues, Jacobson’s announcement serves as a reminder of the importance of authenticity and the impact of visibility. We wish her all the best!
