Couple shocked when they see ultrasound – then nurse states that it’s 1 in 15 million

Each time a child is born it is, of course, a miracle. It’s a unique event, not least for the happy parents.

However, there are some births that are just a little more unique than others.

This couple had always known that they wanted to have a family. Not long after they got married, they discovered that they would soon become parents. What they never could have imagined, however, was that their pregnancy would be a 1 in a million pregnancy.

Bethani and Tim Webb in Hythe, Alberta, met two years before they married in June 2015. Just three months later, Bethani fell pregnant, and three months later the couple went to the hospital for a routine ultrasound.

But when the nurse saw the image on the ultrasound, neither she nor the prospective parents could believe their eyes. It was nothing that the couple could have imagined – in Bethani’s belly there were 4 identical girls. The chance of that happening is only 1 in 15 million.

“I could not believe it, I was in such shock. Honestly, I thought the ultrasound tech was joking. I couldn’t believe it,” Bethani tells CBS News.

Bethani gave birth via C-section at 33 weeks in June 2016, four healthy daughters, who were named Abigail, McKayla, Grace and Emily. Neither of the parents have any history of multiples in the family, and the children were conceived naturally, not through test tube fertilization, which is often case for twins and triplets.

It has not been easy for the couple to tell their identical children apart. To get around the problem, they had to paint their toenails in different colors to see a difference!

Caring for a newborn isn’t all fun and games at the best of times, but when you’re suddenly faced with four, juggling the day-to-day tasks requires some extraordinary skills. For example, the couples’ daughters get through 48 diapers every day!

It’s also so expensive that the couple have relied on donations at times to support their family. Every week volunteers come to their home to help them, and thanks to a collection in the local community, the couple were able to buy a bigger car to accommodate the whole family.

“It’s really amazing, because there would be no way we could do this by ourselves,” Bethani says.

Although it can be tough sometimes, the couple feels unbelievably blessed.

Now the family is living with Tim’s mom, who just loves taking care of her adorable grandchildren!

Life is full of surprises, and this story is truly proof that even if things don’t always work out the way we planned, they can still be amazing. Share this story to remind your nearest and dearest how beautiful life can be.
